December 02-03 2010. ETHICAL project last consortium meeting in Athens. During the last consortium meeting ETHICAL partners had the opportunity to define the last details before the official closure of the project and assess results of the expert online consultation. All partners presented final results of all Work Packages and designed the final steps for a successful project ending. In addition, ETHICAL consortium confirmed a vivid interest of continuing and expanding research and coordination activities on the emerging issue ethical implications of data in relation to medical and biometric applications.


November 29-30 2010. ETHICAL at the UKM-UNESCO Asia Pacific Conference in Selangor Malaysia, 29-30 November 2010. Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, member of ETHICAL project, presentied a paper under the thematic "Challenges to Human Dignity: Human Security, participation and Civil Society". In this paper, ethical implications of data collection, use and retention of biometric data in biometrics applications were identified.


November 19 2010. Participation of ETHICAL project at the EC workshop “Future technology and society”, November 19, 2010 in Brussels. The themes of the workshop focused on the mutual interaction between technology, science and society, and how information technology and innovation influence human practices, and vice versa.


October 29 2010. ETHICAL project participated succesfully  to the eChallenges e-2010 Conference in Warsaw 29 October 2010, organizing a joint Workshop on Ethical Implications of the Global Use of Digitised Biomedical and Biometric Data. The event and discussion moderated by Dr. Schug of EHTEL provided the chance to the audience to discuss the latest developments on ETHICAL project and exchange views on ethical implications of data collection use and retention for biometric and medical applications.


October 26 2010. First results of the "Delphi Stage 2" include 70 responses from experts from all over the world. A first analysis of the results will be presented during the ETHICAL session at the eChallenges e-2010 Conference in Warsaw on 29 October 2010


October 2010. ETHICAL project is participating to the eChallenges e-2010 Conference in Warsaw 27-29 October 2010 organizing a joint Workshop on Ethical Implications of the Global Use of Digitised Biomedical and Biometric Data. The event on October 29 will allow participants to discuss the latest developments on ETHICAL project and exchange views on ethical implications of data collection use and retention for biometric and medical applications. September 27 2010. ETHICAL Delphi Stage 2 is now open! ETHICAL projects invites you to contribute to our survey "ETHICAL Delphi Stage 2", i.e. the second phase of ETHICAL's Delphi consultation on the ethics of biometric and medical data. July 2010. During the months of June and July 2010 ETHICAL project recorded and processed the first "wave" of responses of the International Dialogue on ethical implications of data collection, use and retention in medical and biometric applications. The online dialogue is conducted through an online survey tool and has the structure of an online Delphi process. So far results from the first round of the process were promising and useful conclusions were drawn. Participants of the first round of will be invited to participate to the second round as well. The second round is expected to be launched Mid September 2010.


June 9-10 2010. ETHICAL project meeting in Berlin. During the sixth regular project meeting, that was also attended by the ETHICAL project Officer Mr. Rene Von Schomberg. ETHICAL consortium evaluated the first results of the ongoing international dialogue at BioMedTalk forum and presented the overall strategy for the expert consultations through the Delphi online process and the commence of the parallel debates on the ETHICAL forum and SINAPSE platform.


 

April 2010. Invitation of identified experts to participate to the International Dialogue on ethical implications of data collection, use and retention in medical and biometric applications. ETHICAL consortium has contacted and invited more than 100 experts from different countries to participate to the virtual expert consultation that will be structured as a Delphi process.


 

March 13, 2010. Launch of the ETHICAL project public discussion on BioMedTalk forum. ETHICAL project has established a permanent link within Biomedtalk which is under the administration and moderation of IBC, our partner in Ukraine. BioMedTalk Forum addresses a large audience of registered users, promoting an international virtual podium where issues raised by ETHICAL project will be discussed.


 

April 23, 2010. Meeting of ETHICAL consortium members with the eHealth User Stakeholder Group (eHUSG) in Brussels. The goals of the meeting were to inform the eHUSG about the ETHICAL project, to obtain feedback on the questions ETHICAL has put forth for international debate, and to discuss ethical issues with experts in eHealth.

December 10, 2009. The fourth meeting of ETHICAL project was held in Nicosia. During this meeting, ETHICAL partners had the chance to reflect on important issues emerged from the extended literature review on ethical implications on development of a unique identifier, potential data misuse and international standardisation of ETHICAL requirements.


 

November 9, 2009. Presentation of ETHICAL project scope and objectives at the “Global Governance of Science-Privacy" seminar in Brussels, organized by Governance and Ethics Unit.


 

June 4-5, 2009. The third meeting of ETHICAL project was held in Athens the 4th & 5th June 2009. During this meeting, ETHICAL consortium defined the methodological details regarding the launch of parallel virtual discussions to the identified forum platforms of ETHICAL CIP, BioMedTalk and Sinapses.


 

March 16-17, 2009. The second meeting of ETHICAL project was held in Berlin were among others, the first concept of the ETHICAL Knowledge Base Repository was presented. The ETHICAL Knowledge Base is a repository of digitized information emerged through the research and coordination mechanisms of ETHICAL project.


 

February 19, 2009. EHTEL, as member of the ETHICAL Consortium, presented the scope and aims of the ETHICAL project in eHealth 2009, (www.ehealth2009.cz) at panel discussion between users' representatives on the thematic:"Key issues of the ethical use of eHealth towards building trust on eHealth solutions".


 

January 22, 2009. ETHICAL first meeting in Athens. The first meeting of ETHICAL consortium took place in Athens where the first elements of the ETHICAL project website and ETHICAL CIP were launched at the initial stages of the project and are hosted at the www.ethical-fp7.eu
